Quandoo’s Top 100 Restaurants in Australia 2018
The numbers are in and we’re stoked to reveal Quandoo’s Top 100 Restaurants in Australia for 2018.
It’s no secret that Aussies like to eat and drink. Whether it’s a beer at the local pub or a sophisticated meal at a contemporary restaurant, Australians have an appetite for dining out.
We can say with confidence that Australia has a flourishing dining out scene, but where are we dining most? And which cuisine is our favourite? Here at Quandoo, we’ve crunched the numbers and found the trends.
Reflections on Australia’s Dining Scene
Based on the 100 most popular restaurants on Quandoo, as booked by Quandoo diners, the most popular cuisine in Australia is Italian. This is closely followed by Australian cuisine, which can be categorised from classic café brunch food to modern restaurants inspired by international flavours. Japanese and Thai are our favourite Asian cuisines.
Melbourne is the leading city on our list – no real surprises there – housing 39 of the top 100 restaurants. Sydney boasted 26 restaurants, meanwhile Perth had 20 restaurants.
The Restaurants
As for which best restaurants in Australia have made the list, there’s no surprises a hatted restaurant like Sydney’s Baccomatto Osteria has ranked. The most popular restaurant group, meanwhile, was OKAMI, the Japanese venues in Melbourne that offer all-you-can-eat sushi.
Cookie, Magic Mountain Saloon and Revolver Upstairs also ranked, three ever-popular Melbourne restaurants established by the visionary team of Camillo Ippoliti, Karen Batson and Phillip Schemnitz. You can read more about this hugely successful restaurant group here.
So, without further ado, check out Quandoo’s Top 100 Restaurants in Australia below, as listed in alphabetical order. The methodology behind the rankings is based on reviews left by Quandoo diners and the number of bookings made in 2018. All restaurants have a rating over five, ensuring only high-quality restaurants are considered, and have a minimum of 10 reviews.
