Stay holy at Pizza Religion
With branches located Hawthorn and Malvern, these havens for Italian pizza lovers are fast becoming Melbourne institutions. We firmly believe that this success is down to the sincerity and passion that oozes from the Pizza Religion team. Oh, and the carefully designed menu that champions thin crust pizzas with a twist, of course.
Spicing up the pizza scene in Melbourne is no mean feat, but Pizza Religion has seemingly done it with ease. It’s refreshing to dine in such modern settings where genuinely creative dishes are on offer. A far cry from the overdone basics, these pizza restaurants are all about pizzas like the smoked beef brisket one with green chilli slaw, homemade barbecue sauce and pickles; the pork sausage with chilli, fennel, apple and cabbage slaw and the asparagus with goat’s curd, caramelised onion, walnuts, egg and truffle oil. Those are but a few that we have big love heart eyes for.
Where to worship
The Hawthorn branch is located on Tooronga Road and boasts an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs in action as they whip up a storm. This is a relatively compact restaurant that seats about 30 guests. But you can also dine in the backyard if you’re in with a larger group.
Meanwhile, The Malvern outpost is found on Claremont Avenue and was the second space to open after the original in Hawthorn. With its own unique character, the design is crafted with green leather, warm lighting and plenty of timber to give it a modern aesthetic. The beauty of Pizza Religion Malvern is that you can choose the way you dine – be it at the bar with a beer or in a booth with a bottle of your favourite wine. Or, you can sit outside and make passers by jealous with your feast. Don’t deny it, because we all love doing that!
Pizza love forever
No matter which restaurant you choose, Pizza Religion will convert you, one slice at a time. Under the helm of director Matt Hunter, you’ll be in safe hands as you let your inner pizza devotee shine. Praise be.
