Full disclosure: Vegie Bar doesn’t actually open all that early, but we’d be remiss to talk about delicious vegan breakfast items without mentioning this iconic Melbourne cafe and restaurant. Located in the heart of Fitzroy on Brunswick Street, this Melbourne institution has been paving the way for environmentally-friendly, conscious and damn delicious vegetarian and vegan food for over 30 years. While it may not open until 11, the menu is filled with delicious dishes that can definitely step in as your first meal of the day. Home to one of the most vibrant and infectious atmospheres in Melbourne, this is a must-visit spot for all your vegan breakfast in Fitzroy needs. If Vegie Bar doesn’t float your vegan breakfast boat, nothing will.
Must-try: The Better Than A Big Mac burger of two no-beef patties, special sauce, vegan cheese, pickles and onions served in a three-part brioche bun with golden potato fries. Trust us, this is definitely an excellent way to start the day!

We’re big fans of ordering a cake (or two) and a smoothie, but you’ll also find granola, fruit salads and acai bowls for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. Raw, healthy and delicious, it doesn’t get much better than vegan breakfast in Melbourne CBD at Raw Trader.
Must-try: The ultimate chocolate layer cake with the detox smoothie made with spinach, kale, cucumber, apple, celery and parsley… it’s all about balance here at Quisine.

Another heavenly place that understands our constant need for all-day breakfast, you’ll find some creative vegan dishes here as well as outstanding coffee, of course. A perfect combination of caring about the environment, animals and good food, this is one of the best places we’ve been for brekkie. Oh and for those looking for vegan pancakes in melbourne, you’ve come to the right place.
Must-try: Buckwheat apple pancakes served with raw cinnamon ice cream, maple syrup, raw vanilla bean whipped cream and dehydrated apple chips.

Vegan powerhouse Smith & Deli is a Latin-inspired restaurant in the heart of Fitzroy that makes vegan food like we’ve never seen it before. Running as one of the best vegan restaurants in Melbourne six nights per week, thankfully the breakfast gods have answered our prayers and Smith & Deli offer a delicious brunch menu on the weekend. Satisfying sweet and savoury inclined folk everywhere, this Brunswick Street spot is run by a team of talented, retro staff who know how to make damn delicious vegan food. Serving up some of the best vegan breakfast in Melbourne, try it out, then go back for dinner and cocktails…
Must-try: Divorced Eggs of scramble, carnitas, lime crema, avocado and red and green salsa served on fried blue corn tortillas. This one is enjoyed best with a Bloody Frida – Smith & Deli’s take on a Bloody Mary – for good measure.
